Worried about how I look

When the mirror only shows you what’s wrong, and how you look keeps worrying you

Maybe you stood in front of the mirror this morning and everything seemed wrong: your face too round, your skin not clear, your hair refusing to sit right. Maybe a friend sent a group photo, you looked for yourself first, and then hoped nobody would post it. Or maybe you were scrolling before bed, polished faces and bodies sliding past one after another, and when you looked back at yourself something quietly sank. One offhand comment like “Have you put on weight?” can stay with you for days. It is tiring: you know most of those photos are edited, and you still can’t stop comparing.

Lots of people feel unhappy with how they look

Surrounded by photos and filters, it is very common to care a lot about appearance and keep picking at yourself. That doesn’t make you shallow or dramatic. What you see of others is mostly chosen and edited, while what you see of yourself is unfiltered and colored by how you feel that day. How you look is only one part of you, and it doesn’t decide whether you deserve to be liked.

In the Seaside Loft, let your eyes rest away from the mirror

Outside the Seaside Loft window the sea rises and falls slowly, there are no mirrors here, and nobody is looking you over. Write on a bedside note the comment or the part of yourself that has bothered you most lately, then one thing you like about yourself that has nothing to do with looks, like how well you care for people or how good your cooking is, and fold it away so it stays only on your device. Tonight, maybe scroll through fewer photos and go to bed a little earlier. If this worry keeps you from going out or seeing people, or starts to affect your eating or sleep, it may help to talk with someone you trust or a professional.

No account, no name, and you can leave whenever you like.
