Sunday evening dread

When Sunday evening comes and your heart sinks at the thought of Monday

Maybe Sunday afternoon was fine, and then as the sun went down something in you slowly tightened. Maybe you opened your phone after dinner and saw someone already posting Monday’s plans in the work chat. Or maybe you are lying in bed going over tomorrow one item at a time: the early alarm, the commute, the meeting, the email you still haven’t answered, the person you would rather not see. You are still resting, yet your mind has already gone to work. You might feel annoyed with yourself, too: how did the weekend go so fast, and why can’t I enjoy even one quiet evening?

Lots of people feel uneasy on Sunday evenings

Knowing you have to switch from rest back to pressure, it is very common for body and mind to tense up ahead of time. That doesn’t mean you are fragile, and it doesn’t necessarily mean something is badly wrong with your job or studies. It may be a sign that you have been tired lately, or that one or two things have been weighing on you. It is okay to admit the feeling is there without rushing to push it away.

In the Morning Room, leave tomorrow outside the door

A little morning light comes through the Morning Room curtains, the room is quiet, and nobody here is waiting for your reply. Write on a bedside note the one thing about tomorrow that worries you most, then one small thing that will count as enough if you do it, like getting up on time or buying yourself a warm drink, and fold it away so it stays only on your device. Let the rest of tonight be for a hot shower and an early night. If this dread is heavy every week, keeps you from sleeping, or makes leaving the house feel very hard, it may help to talk with someone you trust or a professional.

No account, no name, and you can leave whenever you like.
