Feeling misunderstood

When it feels like no one understands you, your feelings are still real

Maybe you finally opened up and got “you’re overthinking it” in return. Maybe your family thinks you are being dramatic, or a friend changed the subject as soon as you finished. Or maybe you can’t quite put it into words yourself, and you only know that no one seems able to catch what you feel. Little by little you stop wanting to talk, and the unsaid things pile up and grow heavier.

Not being understood doesn’t make your feelings matter less

When you are misunderstood, it is easy to wonder whether you are too sensitive or too hard to be around. But everyone’s life and circumstances are different, and when someone can’t understand you, it is often because they haven’t stood where you are standing, not because your feelings are wrong. The sadness, the hurt and the loneliness you feel are real, and they deserve to be taken seriously.

In the Field Room, be the first one to understand yourself

Outside the Field Room the wind moves across a wide field, the grass bending and rising again, with nothing to explain to anyone. Write the things you never got to say on a bedside note, in any order, however they come, and fold it away so it stays only on your device. Or leave it at the bedside, so others who have stayed here can see that you are not the only one who feels this way. Someday you may meet someone willing to listen slowly. If this loneliness stays heavy, if you don’t want to talk to anyone at all, or you feel you can’t keep going, please reach out to someone you trust or a professional.

No account, no name, and you can leave whenever you like.
