Exam didn’t go well

When an exam didn’t go well, don’t be too quick to judge yourself

Maybe you prepared for months, and the score came back far lower than you expected. Maybe your hands were shaking before you checked, and after you saw the result you just felt empty. Or maybe everyone around you passed except you, and the congratulations keep piling up in the group chat while you can’t bring yourself to open it. You keep thinking back to the late nights and all the practice questions, and you can’t stop asking yourself whether you didn’t try hard enough, or just aren’t good enough.

One exam score can’t measure who you are

Not doing well hurts this much because you truly cared and truly put in the work. Disappointment, frustration, not wanting to accept it, and worrying about letting your family down can all rush in at once, and that is normal. Just remember that a result sheet records how a few hours on one day went. It is not a verdict on you as a person. What you learned and the days you kept going don’t disappear because of one number.

At the Quiet Station, let your heart settle first

The platform at the Quiet Station is nearly empty, and now and then a train rolls slowly past. Nobody here ranks anyone or asks what you scored. Write on a bedside note the words that hurt most right now, then one thing you actually managed to do these past months, and fold it away so it stays only on your device. Whether to try again, take another path or rest for a while can wait a few days. If this disappointment keeps you from sleeping or eating for a long time, or you start to feel worthless, it may help to talk with someone you trust or a professional.
